Beauty & Style > DIY Exfoliators: Scrub, Scrub, Scrub for Silky New Skin > Figs and Olive Oil
Figs and Olive Oil With winter weather comes dry, dehydrated skin. The culprit is indoor heating that can leave your skin feeling parched and rough. The remedy is right in your fridge. Whip up a batch of these easy-to-make exfoliators to slough of flaky, dead skin cells. Scrub and then slather on your favorite body lotion to reveal a new layer of smooth, moisture-rich skin.
Figs make powerful cleansers thanks to their antioxidants, vitamins and humectants properties. Their tiny little oil-rich seeds gently exfoliate while active enzymes peel off dead skin. The olive oil stimulates cell regeneration and prevents and treats sun damage.
Ingredients
• 2 to 3 smashed or pureed figs
• 1 tbsp. olive oil
Directions
Combine ingredients. Rub mixture onto face to exfoliate. Leave on for 5 to 10 minutes.

Beauty & Style > DIY Exfoliators: Scrub, Scrub, Scrub for Silky New Skin > Honey Honey When combined, organic honey and sugar can also naturally exfoliate skin. Even better, it hydrates, too. Ingredients • 3 tbsp. honey • 3 tbsp. olive oil • 6 tbsp. granulated sugar Directions Combine honey, olive oil and sugar in a small bowl until it forms into a paste. Use a small washcloth to gently spread it over your skin—that way, your hands won’t get sticky. Then, rinse with water. —Diane Wood, master barber for King of Shaves, a razor company based in the U.K.
